Tendergreen Cucumber is one of the first burpless cucumber varieties ever developed, with tender, flavorful deep green skin. Harvest at 5 to 6 inches for pickling or let fruit reach about 12 inches for a perfect slicer. Its cold-tolerant seed makes it well-suited to early spring planting.

At a glance

  • Type: heirloom, open-pollinated cucumber
  • Non-GMO
  • Fruit: deep green, burpless, tender skin
  • Harvest size: 5 to 6 inches for pickling, up to 12 inches for slicing
  • Sun: full sun
  • Seed: cold-tolerant for early sowing

Best for

  • Slicing fresh
  • Pickling small fruit
  • Early spring planting
  • Burpless, easy-digesting cucumbers
  • High-yield home gardens

How to grow

Sow seeds about 1 inch deep in full sun, and thanks to the cold-tolerant seed you can plant a bit earlier than most cucumbers. Space plants 12 inches apart or trellis them, keep evenly watered, and harvest at your preferred size to keep vines producing.

Flavor profile

Crisp, mild, and refreshing with no bitterness and an easy-to-digest burpless quality.
