Sunset Runner Bean is a vigorous, climbing heirloom pole bean grown for both its ornamental beauty and its edible pods. Tall vines produce an abundance of soft pink flowers that attract pollinators, followed by long, tender 8-inch pods. Dried, the beans are a striking black and pink speckle.

How to grow

Direct sow about 1 inch deep in full sun and well-drained soil after frost, spacing seeds 4 to 6 inches apart at the base of a sturdy trellis. Keep soil moist, let the vines climb, and harvest pods young for fresh use or leave them to dry on the vine for storage.
