An extra compartment holds bait to draw even more beetles in.

At a glance

Type: In-hive small hive beetle trap (beetle jail)

Compartments: Two oil compartments plus one lure compartment

Entry: Thin slots let beetles in but trap them in the oil

Placement: Secures on top of a frame; all frames still fit in the box

Bait options: Fermenting fruit like melon or banana peel, or apple cider vinegar

Maintenance: Opens up to empty and rinse with running water

Best for

Catching adult small hive beetles inside the hive

Knocking down high beetle populations

Minimal-disturbance beetle control

Backyard and commercial beekeepers

How to use

Fill the two outer compartments with basic cooking oil and add fermenting fruit or apple cider vinegar to the lure compartment.
